The SIBS program is a unique and innovative way to further support families who have a child with a disability.
CatholicCare acknowledges that disability affects ALL members in the family. Many siblings say the experience of having a brother or sister with special needs makes their lives richer and more meaningful. Their family bond is strong and they often feel very positive about their relationship. However, it is not uncommon for siblings to feel isolated, fearful, anxious, embarrassed, confused, resentful, jealous, angry or guilty at some stage during their childhoods. It can be extremely difficult for a child to cope with the range and scope of these emotions.
Through attending our Saturday Sibs Club kids get to enjoy much needed time-out with other children who share the experience of disability.
SibsClub gives kids aged 5-12 years the chance to relax, have fun and just be kids! Once or twice a month the siblings get to be the special ones and have a break. We organise activities they wouldn't normally get to do like horse riding, laser skirmish, excursions to Sydney, movie and pizza nights, picnics, BMX adventures and much, much more. At Saturday SibsClub the children meet others who share a background of disability and they learn they are not alone. They learn that Sibs matter too!
Our Saturday SibsClub is growing and we need your help to make our sibs' day special! You can make our Saturday SibsClub happen by donating towards the cost of providing new and exciting adventures for our sibs. Whether it's a one-off donation, a regular monthly contribution or a bequest your assistance is very much appreciated. Please visit the 'Give Now' website below.
