National Child Protection Week - Wednesday 8 September
Today's activity is water colour painting. What you decide to paint can be varied – the goal of this activity is not the product created but practicing the process of being calm and mindful. Ideally set the painting up outside where mindfulness can be enhanced by the smells, sounds, and textures of nature. You can get budget-friendly water colour kits from most craft shops as well as in the craft sections of shops like Kmart/Target/Big W.
Here are some examples of painting activities you might want to try:
- Colour-in sheets tailored to the child's interest areas (i.e. print outs of dinosaurs or Disney characters)
- Make your own bunting – paint triangle shapes and then attach them to a roll of string as a decoration for special occasions.
